Country music, more popular now than ever, will be a featured part of Old Settlers Day activities this year when the national “Fiddlers, Pickers, and Singers Association” puts on a program in Marion’s beautiful Central Park. The event is being scheduled on Saturday this year in order that more people may attend. This change has been requested for some time.

Grand Champion winners in this year’s annual 4-H Style Revue held in connection with the Marion County Fair are Carmen Hayen, with runner-up Kris Reid of Florence, and Leslie Lalouette of Florence, with runner-up Ronald Duerksen of Lehigh.

The quiet little town of Ramona had a day of real excitement on Tuesday of this week when it was descended upon by hundreds of antique seekers responding to the advertising of the unusual partition sale of the Lewis Estate.

Births at St. Luke Hospital announced in this issue include those of Amy Deanne Hett, born Aug. 20; Thomas Neil Kaufman, Aug. 21; Cynthia Lyn Stevens, Aug. 22; and Steven Douglas Craig, Aug. 23.

Marsha Childs was hostess at a slumber party at her home Wednesday evening. Girls attending included Karen Siebert, Mary Christensen, Kris Conyers, Donna Andres, Roxanne Zerger, Marian Lawrence, Jan Varenhorst, Susan Lentz, and Linda Loney.
