Peabody, Hillsboro, Burns, Marion, and other places are working to raise funds for the completion of Rock Springs 4-H Ranch.

The annual National Baseball Congress district tournament will be held on the Marion Athletic Association diamond again this season with 16 teams entered. Winner of the tourney will go to the state tournament in Wichita.

Melvin Jewett attended the 35th Division reunion at Springfield, Mo., from Friday to Sunday. He says he was very close to President Harry Truman, but just didn’t jam up to shake hands with him.

Several new homes are under construction, bringing the total at this time to an estimated 35.

June is living up to its reputation as a month for weddings. Six marriage licenses have been issued so far this month by the probate judge’s office.

At Marion Hospital—Mr. and Mrs. H.L. McDaris are the parents of a daughter, Jeanette Lee, born June 7 and Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Conyers are the parents of a son, Terry Lee, also born June 7.Betty Williams, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert “Swede” Williams, has been awarded a Fulbright Scholarship for advanced study of political science at the University of Amsterdam, Holland. The scholarship covers her transportation costs, tuition, maintenance, books, and supplies.
