As its part in a countywide fund-raising campaign to benefit Rock Springs 4-H Ranch, the Marion community will hold a gigantic 4-H Appreciation Day Aug. 9. Merchandise auction, public supper, citywide bargains, and other events will help raise funds needed.

Another new business will soon open in Marion. Dairy Queen, nationally known ice cream merchandising firm, has approved a local franchise to Ezra Bernhardt for this new business enterprise. Bernhardt hopes to be open for business by Sept. 1.

Christine Herbert, assisted by her mother, Mrs. Doug Herbert, entertained a number of friends Saturday in celebration of her seventh birthday. Those present included Mary Melton, Jean Morse, Janet Stiller, Mary Jane Meredith, Ethel Brunner and Sue Reh.

Mr. and Mrs. Albert Novak, Tampa, announce the engagement of their daughter, Mary Lou, to Edmund Kroupa, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Kroupa Sr., Marion. The wedding will take place in the fall.

Two girls, who were born at the Marion hospital on July 11, are Camille Marie, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wooldridge and Rose Ann, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Richardson. Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Krause of Lincolnville are the parents of a son, Bradley LeRoy, born July 12.
