Kenneth Sly, son of Mr. and Mrs. H.W. Sly, is among the troops who will participate in operation “Warm Wind” in Alaska during the month of November. He will return sometime in December. Also of interest to Marion friends is news that Kenneth has just recently completed his 14th jump as a paratrooper.

Add this to the “Believe it or Not” column — Ray (Cotton) Hansen grew a sunflower in his yard this summer that had 207 separate flowers and grew to over 11 feet tall.

Thirty-two Boy Scouts, traveling in seven cars with commissary truck accompanying them, will leave Wednesday for a four-day trip through northeast Oklahoma and the annual Scout jaunt. Drivers and leaders who will accompany the boys are Alfred Hiebert, Keith Kelsey, Bill Meyer, Arthur Schmersey, Jack Seaton, Marion Smith and Virgil Wiebe.

Mrs. Fred Allen entertained some young guests Thursday afternoon in celebration of the third birthday anniversary of her daughter, Connie. Those present included Janet and Steven Childs, Karen Vann and Janet Varenhorst.

“News from Marion’s St. Luke Hospital” tells that Mr. and Mrs. Harold L. Ewert are the parents of a baby girl, Donna Kay, born Oct. 17 and that Mr. and Mrs. Albert Klose of Tampa are the parents of a baby girl, JoAnn Rose, born Oct. 30.
