The Junior Class play, “Room for One More,” will be given Nov. 21 at the high school auditorium. The cast includes Pat Kruse, John Childs, Don Kline, Ronnie Post, Joan Klein, Karen Brodhead, Ginger Price, Donna Speer, Marilyn Reh, Charlene Youk, Janet Holub, Joe Sklenar, Donna Williams, and Roger Richmond.

The formal opening of another Marion firm in a new building is planned for Nov. 23. Newsom’s Greenhouse will hold an “open house” that day at the corner of Coble and East Main streets.

The October issue of the Southwestern Bell News has an illustrated feature story entitled “Mr. Telephone.” Mr. Telephone is George Rhodes of Marion, an employee of the Bell system here since 1923.

A baby daughter weighing 7 pounds 13 ounces was born to Mr. and Mrs. Jack Helmer Nov. 12 at St. Luke Hospital.

Groundbreaking services will be held Nov. 13 for the new office building for the Marion County Welfare Department. The building will be on the southwest corner of courthouse grounds.

Dick Cook, manager of the local Seymour Packing Company announces that several men from the Marion plant have received safe driving awards. Alex Mehlinger, C.J. Ecker and Rudolph Deines have 13-year records. Other awards went to Bill May, 10 years; Joe Atherton, nine, Henry Sklenar, five; and Henry Klose, four.
