The city commission, Monday evening, purchased a new car for the police department to replace the previous one which had almost 70,000 miles on the speedometer. Gound Motor Company will provide the Ford V-8 4-door.

The annual Thanksgiving Day football classic between Marion and Peabody will be played on the Marion field Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. The local Warriors will go into the match as slight favorites over the fifth place-ranking Peabody outfit. Marion ranks third in the CVL.

There will be an open house this Sunday afternoon at the new Newsom Greenhouse, located on East Main Street at Coble Street. The modern new building is a distinct asset to the city’s expanding enterprise.

Seven students at Marion High School are members of the Neosho Valley Youth Symphony which meets every two weeks at Kansas State Teachers College, Emporia. They are Carol Miser, Carolyn Merrill, Judy Thatch, Carol Jean Krispense, Lenore Wheeler, Pat Kruse and LaVern Hoffman.

Courthouse friends of Vernie Vinduska, fiancée of Eugene Konecny, honored her Friday evening with a pottery shower at the home of Mrs. Gene Heath. She was guest of honor Tuesday evening at a miscellaneous shower held at the home of Mae Nelson.

A3/C Monty Frazier is now located at Kessler Air Force Base in Mississippi where he is studying control tower work.
