The “Roll-in-Rink” is open again after being closed for a month for repair and re-decoration. Owner Jerry Hett reports the rink is open each Thursday and Sunday evening.

Marion High School’s presentation of “Fog in the Valley” received a highly superior rating Thursday at the annual CVL play festival held at Florence High School. Members of cast are Theodora Longhofer, Michael Brodhead, Shirley Tiemeier, Dwight Fruechting, Jay Fisher, and Anita Collett. The play will be entered in the district meet in March.

Earl Priebe, manager of the Marion J.C. Penney store, announced last week that he had sent his resignation to the company for reasons of health. New manager, W.A. King, arrived this week to take over operation of the store.

A wedding of wide interest was held Jan. 25 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Tampa, when Miss Edna Rhode, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Rhode, became the bride of Paul Backhus, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Backus, Hope.

The whole Marion community received one of its deepest shocks in recent years at the word of the death Sunday night of Alvin Propp, popular young manager of Marion Equipment Company. His death is a severe blow and loss to the community, as well as a grievous loss to family and friends. He was 43 years of age.
