Ross Estes, newly hired Marion High School head football coach, will have charge of the summer youth recreation program this year, according to word from Harold Keazer, president of the Marion Athletic Association, sponsors of the program.

A group of Explorer Scouts and their dates went to Wichita Saturday evening and attended the annual Quivera Council Explorer’s ball. The group included Howard Williams, Kay Navrat, Donald Winters, Nancy Keazer, Dick Hoch, Arlene Kline, Oscar Davies, Roma Collett, Jerry Richards, and Deloris Reed.

The new Evangelical United Brethren parsonage on Elm Street will be dedicated May 3 by Bishop C.H. Stauffacher of Kansas City, Mo.

Mrs. Ray Longhofer entertained Saturday with a one o’clock luncheon in honor of the birthday anniversary of her daughter, Pat. Following the luncheon, the guests had a line party to the Kaw Theatre. Present were Pat’s teacher Miss Arlene Schmidt, Julia Wooldridge, Lucinda Hauser, Molly Brodhead, Sharon Bartel, Sharon Blankley and Karen Jost

Mrs. Orlie Harrison, the newspaper’s correspondent from the Sunflower area, reports that the few showers during the past week were enough to wash the dust from things, but the crops have a hard time making any progress it is so dry and too cold.
