Marion City Commission granted permission at its regular Monday meeting to the Marion Athletic Commission to set up a ball diamond and schedule their morning recreational program at the waterworks park.

KTVH Hutchinson, Kansas’ first video outlet, is on the air. All reports of set owners locally are that the station is coming in “loud and clear” both as to sound and sight.

Mrs. E.M. Popp announces the engagement of her daughter, Kathryn Anne, to John D. Hett, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Hett of Aulne. The wedding date has been set for Sept. 4.

Ginger Price, Janet Holub, Karen Brodhead and Marlys Rupp enjoyed camping out for four days last week near the Rupp home on their farm northwest of town.

Young folks from the Intermediate Department of the Methodist church arrived home Thursday after spending five days at Camp Webster, near Salina. The group included Robert Melton, Junior Post, Paul Schmersey, Bill Meredith, Tommy and Jerry Shirley, Junior Wiebe, Dick Rittel, Johnsie Belle Just and Jan Blackwelder.

“Call Me Madam” starring Ethel Merman ends tonight at the air conditioned Kaw Theatre. Showing next, on Friday and Saturday, are two action-packed features including “On Top of Old Smoky” with Gene Autry.
