An old landmark south of Marion, the big grain elevator on the late Fred Williams farm, was moved last week, all in one piece, to a new location far up in the northeast part of the county, near Burdick. The route from the Williams farm was three miles south to the Aulne road, east to U.S. 77 (across the new
“Wheeler bridge”), then 12 miles north, two east, two more north, three east, and one and one-quarter north to the Nelson farm.

The U.S. Navy informed Mrs. J.B. Greer and Walker Greer on Wednesday that they had found the first trace of the missing Navy plane, which apparently went down in Washington Jan. 28. More information is to follow.

Mr. and Mrs. Harry Skibbe announce the engagement of their daughter, Mary Ann, to Billy McKibbin, son of Mr. and Mrs. W.W. McKibbin. The wedding date has not been set.

Lenore Wheeler was the houseguest from Wednesday to Sunday of Susan Olin, Peabody. She was guest of honor at a party Thursday evening.

Bob Brooks was medalist and winner of the first flight of Sunday’s golf tournament at the Country Club. T.C. Ensey took top honor in the second flight. Brooks got an extra prize for the most pars, Ed Good took one for most bogeys, and Dave Montgomery one for best ball from No. 3 tee.
