Wm. Frazer, well-known former Marionite, now superintendent of schools at McPherson, will be the principal speaker Thursday at the Old Settlers’ Day afternoon program. Many real old-timers, some nearing the 100-year mark, will be on hand to share interesting experiences. Special awards will be made for the oldest man, woman, and couple in attendance.

William Ubben, 41, father of five children and parts manager of Marion Motors and Machinery Co., was the victim of a tragic airplane accident Tuesday afternoon when his Piper Cub crashed in flames in full view of 12,000 persons at the state fair in Hutchinson.

Announcement is made this week that a new auction sales association has been formed in this area by George Clark, Wayne Ward, and Orville and J.B. Miesse. They have joined together to conduct public sales under the name of Flint Hills Auction Company.

Weddings reported in this issue were those of LaVonne Slocombe, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence D. Slocombe, Peabody, and Roger Hannaford, son of Mrs. Norma Hannaford, Marion, and Marilyn Beth Richmond, daughter of Mrs. Ray Kelsey, Marion, and Lonnie Earl Morris, son of Mrs. T.E. Batt, Cloud Chief, Okla.
