The rapidly expanding frozen food industry is showing its effects upon a Marion industry. Marion Creamery has just announced it has been selected as the exclusive distributor for the entire western part of the state for an up and coming line of frozen foods marketed under the trade name “PictSweet.”

Four boys from Marion received honorable mention berths on the mythical North Central Kansas all-area football team, as published by the Topeka Daily Capital. Players selected were Ron Post, Verlin Meier, Harold Shields and Leon Lais. Ronnie Slaymaker of Peabody was the only other CVL player named.

Mr. and Mrs. Dean Batt are the happy parents of a baby girl born Dec. 9 at St. Luke Hospital. They have named the little miss, Shelley Lea.

Sue Ellen Summervill and Carol Sue Conyers celebrated their birthday Sunday by inviting the girls of the sixth grade to a party. Guests included Karen Thole, Karen Shull, Lu Wheeler, Ruth Muck, Dorothy Hedrick, Elizabeth Martinez, Ethel Brunner, Mary Lou Schmidt, Joyce Remmers, Jan Rathert Deana Vinduska, Margie Winter, Janice Weber, Beth Haizlip, Lucinda Hauser and Anita and Deana Gleason.

Mrs. R.R. Melton gave a talk entitled “Your Town” to members of 20th Century Club Monday evening.
