Four boys from Marion received honorable mention berths on the mythical North Central Kansas all-area football team, as published by the Topeka Daily Capital. Players selected were Ron Post, Verlin Meier, Harold Shields and Leon Lais. Ronnie Slaymaker of Peabody was the only other CVL player named.
