The Kansas song, “Home on the Range,” took on a literal meaning Sunday when August Lalouette returned from Yellowstone National Park with a truckload of 13 wild antelope, for now his ranch near Cedar Point is truly the place “where the buffalo roam and the deer and the antelope play.”

A freak accident occurred shortly after 3 a.m. Friday at the Jesse West home two miles east of Marion. A 16-ton truck blew a tire and crashed into the bedroom where Darrell Weigart, his wife Beulah and their 3-year-old daughter, Pamela Joyce, were sleeping.

Mrs. Henry Loveless entertained with a dinner Thursday evening honoring her twin sons, Jerry and Gary, on their 11th birthday. A line party to the Kaw Theatre followed the dinner. Those present were Harold Soyez, Larry McKibbin, Larry and Jackie Fox, Tuck Tucker, Jerry Domke, Gerald Kelsey and Larry McCarty.

Betty Sellers, Florence, placed second in the annual cherry pie-baking contest last week. Winner of the contest was Glenda Johnson of Hugoton. Miss Johnson, 16, has sold well over 1,000 pies to restaurants and homes in Hugoton, it was reported.

Station KTVH, Hutchinson, has announced this week that it will increase its broadcast time beginning Feb. 15. Starting Monday the station will be on the air with programs from 11:10 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.
