Mrs. Frances M. Cumpton will open a new ladies wear store in Marion Saturday. It will be in the former location of the Wingerd grocery, previously Richardson grocery, in the Oyer and Riggs building at Third and Main.

The Marion Warriors basketball team under the guidance of Floyd Yaussi has achieved an outstanding record this year. Some of the statistics on individual players in all games played are as follows: Ronnie Post was high scorer with 238 points, or an average of 12 per game. He also made 59% of his free throws. Leon Lais made 193 points, 10.1 per game and 51% of his free throws. Verlin Meier made 162 points and 45% of his charity tosses. Harold Shields made 154 points and 58% of his free throws. Jerry Richards made 106 points and John Williams 92.

Mr. and Mrs. John E. Wheeler have issued invitations for a tea Sunday afternoon honoring their son Mahlon’s fiancée, Patricia Pendleton, Wichita, and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. L.D. Pendleton, Caney.

Merle Bruner was home from Camp Wolters, Texas, for a visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Bruner over the weekend.

“Cash Days” are coming to Marion in which local businessmen will award a total of $85 to lucky shoppers on Wednesday afternoons starting in April. First prize each week will be $50 and perhaps more. Four other cash prizes will also be awarded each Wednesday.
