The first prize in Marion’s first Cash Day went unclaimed Wednesday with Clinton Hanschu of Ramona being selected, but not present to receive his award.

Leslie R. Broadstreet, Marion photographer, was elected president of the Kansas Professional Photographers Association at their annual convention in Wichita this past weekend.

The Marion Bown-Corby operetta “Early Bird Catches the Worm” played Friday night to a capacity house at the high school auditorium. The production included a cast of 170 students with lead parts played by Monty Gleason, Anita Schlehuber, Johnny Hoover, Steven Collett, Jean Morse, Donald Stenzel, and Max Jackson.

An 11-trailer caravan of Cherokee Indian gypsies stopped for three days this week at the Marion County Lake. They came from near Pocatello, Idaho, where they had spent the winter and were on their way to Wichita where they own considerably property, they said.

A group of the high school set enjoyed a party at the recreation hall at the lake Saturday evening at the invitation of Carmen Siebert and Dick Hoch whose birthdays were being celebrated.
