The second Cash Day was a big success, with over 1,000 extra people in town during the afternoon. Mrs. Stella Schisler was the winner of first prize of $115. Other prizewinners were Joe Richmond, 15; Melvin C. Meier, Durham, $5; and Mrs. Herbert Hett, $5. Mrs. Clyde Kieferle’s name was called for third prize, $10, but she was not present in any of the participating 50 stores.

Rosalie Dohner celebrated her birthday with a party Sunday afternoon at the home of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. G.R. Keazer. Invited guests were Judy Richards, Karen Jost, Patty Longhofer, Donna Haas, Julia Wooldridge, Patty Funk, Kay Love, Janet Stiller, Sharon Bartel, and Beverly Winter.

There will be cash prizes for beards of various types and classifications during the forthcoming Santa Fe Centennial celebration. One source of funds to pay the prizes will come from penalties assessed against “clean shavers” or non beard-growing men.

Marion High School tracksters won their first meet in years Monday at Moundridge. First place wins were racked up by Harold Shields, Tom Druse, the mile relay team of Jerry Richards, Johnny Williams, Leon Lais and Verlin Meier, Ronnie Post, Max Hayen, and the medley relay team of Darrell Riffel, Jerry Makovec, Dick Hoch, and Larry Fisher.
