Due to the gradually improving water supply and the fine public cooperation, the city commission this week announces a new, more lenient schedule for watering trees, shrubs, lawns, and gardens.

Kansas Farm Bureau has appointed Wayne Colle of Iowa as their general insurance agent in Marion County. He succeeds the late Floyd Fike, for many years the Farm Bureau agent here.

Several Boy Scouts have been going to the swimming pool in Newton the past week in order that they may pass the Scout swimming tests. Those making the trip each morning are Kenneth Bowers, Lane Broadstreet, Gregory Henry Dennis Navrat, Laurence Priddle, Junior Wiebe, and Earl Winter.

Donald Frick, son of Mr. and Mrs. M.C. Frick, and Soren Medley, son of Cecil Medley, both members of the Tampa Circle T 4-H Club, were successful bidders at the Big Red Circle auction at the KC ranch at Brookville July 24. Frick purchased a Shorthorn steer and Medley, a Hampshire purebred gilt.

Rev. Arthur Tonne, while on vacation visiting family in Wisconsin and Michigan, spoke to the Rotary Club in Hancock, Michigan, July 26 on “Father Kapaun and Communism.” The Pilsen pastor has been preparing a book on the life of the hero priest for several months.
