Mr. and Mrs. Alex Case Sr. will leave for New York Oct. 16 where the Case & Son insurance agency of Marion will be honored for 75 years of continuous service to the Commercial Union Assurance Company.

Nurses, doctors, patients—everybody was having a fine time at St. Luke Hospital this week with virtually a “full house” of brand new kings and queens. At the time a picture was taken, eight bassinets were occupied. A day or two later three more newcomers were added. Babies pictured were Tracy Koegeboehn, Cora Broadbent, Brenda Jo Richmond, Mark Kline, Kerry Pagenkopf, Derald Bezdek, Vincent Day, and David Krause.

Three of the members of the original “Rube Band,” who played Thursday in the Old Settlers’ Day parade, were Jerry Mullikin, Nodie Baker, and Jay Hargett. Even some of their props remained unchanged: Hargett’s frock coat, Mullikin’s duster and straw hat, and Baker’s patched pants.

Mrs. Percy Smith of Lincolnville was first prize winner in Marion’s Cash Day this Wednesday. She received $145. Other prize winners were Orville Hett, $15, Roscoe Blankley, $10, Clyde W. Dunn, $5.

Earl Magathan’s wooden cigar store Indian welcomed folks as they entered the Old Settlers’ Historical Museum Thursday. Among the other pieces on display was an exhibit of native grains, nuts, etc. loaned by Case and Son.
