L.L. Hadsell, president of Farmers and Drovers National Bank, was elected president of the Marion Chamber of Commerce at the regular December meeting Monday night. Wm. E. McCartney, drug store owner, was named vice president.
Old Santa Claus and his helpers distributed over 850 big sacks of treats here in Marion Saturday, the largest number in quite a few years.
Marion is still at the top of the CVL race, sharing honors with Herington. Marion and Herington have each won three and neither has lost a league battle this season.
The new M and H Recreation operated by Mr. and Mrs. Harry House opened this week in its new location, the former Firestone building, west of the Kaw Theatre and Schoneman Shoe Store. All new pool and snooker tables and equipment have been installed.
Jonas Mohn, of the county highway crews, is adding a new room to the suite of the county engineer that will be used as a drafting room. The new room is taking a corner out of the former furnace room, with a new door cut through the partition into the present engineer’s department.
The public is invited to a two-act play, “Home for Christmas,” to be presented Dec. 23 at the high school assembly at 10:47 a.m. The play is a presentation of the Dramatics Club of Marion High School.
