Thirty-seven members of the Marion High School graduating class of 1945 returned Sunday for their first reunion and are pictured on the front page. Wilbur Melcher’s 1945 football team, also pictured, includes Rosse Case, Paul Hansen, Bill Higgins, Art Thomas, Jim Hett, Keith Kelsey, Ted Werts, John Brose, Bill Raymo, and Bob Edmunds,

The men’s chorus of Strassburg Baptist Church left by chartered bus last Wednesday evening for Waco, Texas, where they sang at the church’s general conference. Roy Vogel is director of the chorus and Mrs. Jonah Seifert their accompanist.

Eleven players representing the Marion golf club, played June 5 at a tournament at McPherson. They were Dave Montgomery, Bob Brooks, Rosse Case, T.C. Ensey, Vernon Regier, Bob Hoover, Wayne Colle, D. Hoover, C.R. Magee, Bill Wygle and Reid Crawford.

Mrs. Fred (Emma Shreve) Lewis, last remaining member of one of the original three families who settled on the present site of Marion in 1860, died at Santa Ana, Calif., June 20, at the age of 97.

The “top floor” ladies in the courthouse held a surprise covered dish luncheon Tuesday noon honoring Mrs. Virgil Wiebe, who is moving this week to Durham. They also presented her with a very nice “going away” gift.
