Marion County towns and farms got a good flood scare last Thursday night, but in most cases, it was just a scare. Another inch or two of rainfall at the “wrong” time would have made the situation much worse as it was in other parts of the state.

The silver jubilee of the priesthood of Father Arthur Tonne will be celebrated May 28 with a Solemn High Mass at 10 a.m. in St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Pilsen

Marion’s stellar mile relay team consisting of Junior Bledsoe, Jim Christensen, Jim Gilbert, and Wade Robertson set a new state record for Class A schools in that event at the state track meet in Wichita Saturday. Their time was 3:28.1, bettering Haskell’s old record of 3:39.9 by almost two seconds.

Mrs. Agnes Price was hostess to the high school seniors of the Methodist church at an 8 o’clock breakfast Sunday morning. A three-course breakfast was served to the following seniors: Margaret McClain, Dale Johnson, John Minear, Larry Olsen, and John Price.

Weddings reported in this issue were those of Mary Ann Miller, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry R. Miller, Lincolnville, and Duane W. Biehler, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Biehler, Herington, on May 18 and Margie Louise Regier, daughter of Mrs. Henry Regier, and Eugene Christensen, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Christensen, on May 19.
