The new Marion Municipal Swimming Pool has been used by capacity crowds during the past week. Everyone is high in praise of the pool, the quality of the water, and the efficient operation by skilled personnel.

Twentieth Century Club, an organization of progressive minded young women, has added another worthwhile project to their accomplishments. They donated an attractive old-world-style post light to St. Luke Hospital to better illuminate the small step at the end of the sidewalk. It greatly improves the night visibility to the entrance to the hospital.

Saturday will see free passes dropped from the air above Marion, permitting the holder to attend the “Wild Bill Hickok” rodeo at Abilene next week. The passes will be dropped from an airplane.

Miss Ruth Keller invited the neighborhood children to her home Tuesday morning for a tower party. Ice cream cones were served and each guest received either a balloon or a parasol that were tied to the spiral stairway leading to the tower.

Three thousand former Kansans attended the annual Kansas picnic at Long Beach, California, July 28. Registering from Marion County were Mr. and Mrs. Ed Obermyer of Marion; Mr. and Mrs. Dave Schwemmer of Tampa; W.W. Nusbaum, Mr. and Mrs. C.I. Jones, and Mrs. Esther Mollohan of Peabody; John W. Severns and Cliff and Ella Crist of Florence.
