Clara B. McKay, the “good right hand” of five Marion County Clerks, is retiring from her office this week, completing almost 37 years of service to the people of Marion County. The county clerks under which she has served are O.V. Heinsohn, A.L. Socolofsky, J.K. Warkentin, Francis Roberts, and Fred Allen.
Mrs. Fred Muck and Mrs. Agnes Price went to Wichita Thursday afternoon and attended the National Button show. Mrs. Muck has been collecting buttons over many years and has a fine display but was not exhibiting at the show this year.
Over 50 Marionites in the 19-40 age-bracket took their second of three polio shots Wednesday in the clinic conducted by the Marion County Health Department.
Three new members of the Marion school faculty pictured in this issue are Mrs. Lola Razor, sixth grade; Mrs. D.W. Montgomery, first grade; and Mrs. Max Jackson, physical education.
Pictured busily drawing in her elementary design class at Emporia State College is Marion’s Carlita Bass. Miss Bass, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl B. Bass, is a sophomore at E-State.
Old neighbors and friends, who have gathered for a Halloween party at the Art Hett home for the past nine years, had their annual get-together Saturday evening. The menu of hot dogs, pie and coffee was enjoyed and the evening was spent playing hearts and rummy.
