High winds, reaching estimated speeds of 60 miles per hour and possibly more, lashed Marion County Tuesday. Widespread damage included the blowing down of a 15-foot wall being erected at the new Gnadenau Mennonite Brethren Church at Hillsboro.
Don Stenzel, wiry seventh grader, led the scoring attack for the Marion Junior High Braves in today’s game against Hillsboro. He chalked up 20 points in the team’s 37-20 victory. Mike Schwemmer also played a good contest on the offensive, with 10 points. Joe Martinez was the outstanding rebounder.
Mr. and Mrs. George King of Kingfisher’s Inn at the Marion County Lake were notified this week that their eating-place had been listed this week in two of the nation’s best-known directories of eating places, motels, and hotels. One is “The Gourmet,” a listing by Duncan Hines, and the other in the AAA handbook.
Mrs. Elmer Ottensmeier entertained a group of youngsters Dec. 4 to celebrate her daughter, Cherri Jean’s, third birthday. The guest list included Dianne Weber, Rae Jean Woerz, Ginger Helmer, Judy Yaussi, Deborra Case, Paula Edmunds, Sandy Anderson, Brad Case, Ricky Schwendiman, Bill Ford, Melvin Honeyfield, and Michael Edmunds.
A group of friends surprised Mr. and Mrs. Rosse B. Case Friday evening and gave them a rousing house warming at their newly redecorated home on North Lincoln.
