Two more districts, Morning Star and Aulne, will vote within the next few days whether to have their own district choice or join a larger district for unification.

A picture on the front page shows Rocky Hett feeding nutmeats to two of the half dozen baby squirrels being raised by the Tom Hett family. One of the babies has a broken leg and wears a splint. The most interesting fact is that the squirrels are being nursed along with a couple of her kittens by a mother cat. This same cat, Fancy Pants, once nursed a baby raccoon until it was large enough to take off into the woods on its own.

The senior class play, “Our Hearts Were Young and Gay,” will be presented next week at the city auditorium. Playing the parts of Cornelia Otis Skinner and Emily Kimbrough will be Jean Morse and Cheryl Caselman.

Winners of a Kolonel Keds tents at the drawing last Saturday night at Schoneman Shoe Store were Debra Heidel and Mike Bredemeier.

Two couples from Marion recently signed a lease to operate the Douglas County Valleyview Nursing Home in Lawrence. The new operators will be Mr. and Mrs. Willard Nice and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Meierhoff. Mrs. Nice and Mrs. Meierhoff are former employees of Cedar Rest Home, Marion.
