Mayor Ira Newcomer proclaimed Monday as a day of mourning for our late President John F. Kennedy, who was assassinated Friday.

Nearly 150 junior class students from high schools in Marion County will gather Dec. 3 in Marion to take part in the annual County Government Day, sponsored by the American Legion and Legion Auxiliary.

A modern new Hassman dairy case was added this week to fixtures at Al and Dan’s Quality Food Market. The case was sold and installed by Keller Refrigerator of Marion.

Among 65 prospective students visiting the Westmar College campus in LaMars, Iowa, the weekend of Nov. 2 were Marion students Larry Ensey, Wayne Ewert, Ruth Hett, and Linda McElwain.

James F. Meisner, Marion County civil defense director, reports that updating of a national fallout shelter survey and marking program is scheduled to begin Nov. 22 in Marion County.

Conyers Flowers at the south end of Lincoln St. will have an open house this coming Sunday in its new fiberglass building. New ways to decorate for Christmas will be featured.
