Charles H. Campbell, 34, Kinsley, has been hired by the board of education to be superintendent of the Marion school system during the coming year. He will replace Robert Musgrave, who has tendered his resignation effective at the end of the current year.
Owl Car Café has reopened after redecorating and remodeling its banquet room. In the banquet room, pillars have been removed, a chimney and an elevator were taken out, and a lowered ceiling was installed. A new sign on the front of the building will feature a winking owl along with the name of the café.
Mr. and Mrs. Will Helmer, Galen and Ginger were hosts to a family dinner honoring the baptism Sunday morning of Greta Lee and Gena Gay Helmer.

Marion seventh grade Braves pulled the big one out of the fire Saturday night with a last-minute victory over unbeaten Hillsboro. Team members are Ronnie Cooper, Tom Cowan, Kerry Domke, Marc Hauser, Stanley Kerbs, Leslie Lunderman, Steven May, Gary Melcher, David Rumpel, Mike Steinel, Gary Wiens, and Doug Westerhaus.
