County commissioners met Thursday with an architect for the new Cedar Rest Home at Peabody and came to an agreement on a number of unfinished items concerning the home. The home has 52 occupants, two more than the number it was designed to house.
The junior class of Marion High School is hard at work preparing for a play, “A Man Called Peter,” to be presented March 12. The lead roles, Peter and Catherine Marshall, will be portrayed by Darold Longhofer and Toni McElwain.
The former Tasty Grill will be known as the B&E Café starting Monday when Beverly and Elsie Winter take over ownership and operation of the popular eating establishment formerly operated by Mr. and Mrs. Walt Hayward.
The café will be open six days a week, 6 a.m. to midnight, but closed Sundays.
In recognition of National Pencil Week, Rendel Newsom, an avid pencil collector, is inviting the public to Newsom Greenhouse on Wednesday.
He will display about 4,000 of his pencils and ball pens and will trade for unsharpened advertising pencils or ballpoints that have complete addresses.
