Marion Warriors wowed their fans with a spectacular ending to an overtime ballgame Friday evening when Brian Alexander sunk the winning field goal with the final gun sounding while the ball was in the air. Marion won its district tournament with a 49-48 victory over Lindsborg.

Marion Girl Scouts sold 1,058 boxes of Girl Scout cookies in their annual sales drive. Top sellers in each of the troops were Sandra Anderson, Susie Lundgren, Susan Marler, and Pam Slusser.

Earl Kreuter and Ira Newcomer this year will complete 12 years of service to the community as members of Marion City Commission.

Janice Hoffman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Hoffman of Marion, received her nurse’s cap in exercises Feb. 28 at Newman Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Emporia.

Bob Kelly was winner of a recent three-weekend Marion City Bowling Tournament. He walked away with singles honors for both handicap and scratch and won the all-events handicap and the high-30 handicap awards.
