International Farm Youth Exchange representative Matti Sipila of Finland will arrive June 11 in Marion County to spend three weeks with the Cyrus Goertz family of Marion. Sipila is one of two from Finland visiting the United States this summer.
Heavy rains have put streams on a rampage over the county.
A new improvement at Central Park in Marion is a picnic pavilion with concrete floor, two picnic tables, benches, and electrical outlets. The improvement was made from the old Boy Scout house that had been unused for several years.
A busload of international students attending Kansas State University is making a three-day tour through Central Kansas.
In Marion County, the students will visit and view the Allen Pankratz swine operation, the Suderman Brothers purebred Hampshire sheep flock, and the Tip Top Dairy plant in Hillsboro.
Among students from Marion County who recently graduated from Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia are Allen Steely and Rodney Podszus, Lincolnville; Jerome Vajnar, Tampa; Donna Jost and Eileen Pavey, Marion; and Richard Laubhan, Durham.
