Glen Hett, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Hett, won a bicycle at last week’s Kids Drawings. Other winners were Billy Hess, watch; Jimmy Hoch, Hot-Rodder engine; Wanda Hett, microscope; and Diana Case, Barbie doll house.

The Chamber of Commerce has revived the tradition of offering cash prizes to homes, business houses, and institutions that have outside decorations for the Christmas season. Prizes will be awarded in each category.

Everett Burkhead, good natured and ever helpful in spite of his loss-of-sight handicap, was featured in a recent edition of the Salina Journal. The story told how Everett recognizes friends along Marion’s Main St. merely by the sound of their gait.

The first in a series of pictures and brief sketches of MHS basketball team members appear in this week’s issue. The first two players featured are 6-foot-5 senior George Jackson and 6-foot-3 senior David Goertz.

Wedding vows were exchanged Nov. 7 at Florence United Methodist Church by Shirley Jo Dale, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Dale of Florence, and John R. “Rocky” Hett, son of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Hett of Marion.

Remodeling in the district courtroom will start Dec. 13. The first phase will see the jury box remodeled and floored with tile; the east, south, and west walls paneled in strip mahogany; and the railing and woodwork refinished.

Marion County Farm Bureau office is being moved this weekend into a newly constructed office at 1122 E. Main St. Wayne Colle, general agent, says the date for an open house will be announced later.
