Marion County Jail looks just a little like Grand Central Station these days with a near capacity crowd of 10 men taxing its facilities as of this morning, Thursday

The local post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars completed a deal this week to purchase the four west lots and the garage building belonging to Frank Bailey on West Santa Fe Street.

Anne Burkholder and her mother, Mrs. Ed Burkholder, left Monday for New York. Anne expects to sail from New York about Sept. 15 for Lusanne, Switzerland, where she will be a student of languages in the School for Young Ladies

Mrs. J.P. Hoffman was in Topeka during the weekend to attend the wedding of Miss Eunice Carlson, daughter of Gov. and Mrs. Frank Carlson, and Mr. Edward J. Rolfs, which occurred Saturday evening at the First Presbyterian Church. The reception for more than 1,000 guests was held at the executive mansion. Mrs. Hoffman was the Saturday evening dinner and overnight guests of Mr. and Mrs. W.R. Carpenter, Topeka.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert McGinness, Wailuku, Moi, Hawaii, have greatly pleased a number of people around Aulne and Marion with a gift box of 40 beautiful Vanda orchids sent by airmail this week to Mr. and Mrs. Harry Barnes, who shared the fragile beauties. Mr. and Mrs. McGinness teach in a high school in Hawaii. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Byron McGinness of Wichita, formerly of Aulne.
