Although losing the final football game of the season against Peabody Thanksgiving Day, a least one Marion player got a break that couldn’t be classed as bad. Game captain Kerns Allen is pictured as he plants the traditional kiss upon the football queen, Claire Hyde, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Preston Hyde. Queen Claire’s attendants were Lois Kelsey and Madeline Penland.

Another of Marion’s war heroes was laid to rest in Marion Cemetery Tuesday afternoon with the interment of Pfc. Fred John Anderson, who was killed in action April 16, 1945, in central Germany.

L.L. Hadsell arrived in Marion Wednesday to take over his new duties as president of Farmers and Drovers National Bank. The bank directors invite the public to drop in from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday to meet the new president.

Bill Good, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Good and Larry Olsen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Olsen were tonsillectomy patients at the Marion hospital Saturday. Judy Svitak, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Svitak, was at tonsil patient Saturday and Thad Meierhoff underwent a tonsillectomy Wednesday at the hospital.

Ed Campbell, prominent local contractor, builder, and City of Marion Street and Utility Commissioner, passed away Nov. 25 at his home on Cedar Street
