Marion City Commission at their regular meeting Monday evening passed a resolution calling for an approximate two-mile extension of the city’s water lines in the south and east part of the city. Estimated coast will be about $39,750. The resolution is published in this issue.

Alpha Psi chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha women’s service sorority at McPherson this week sent four truckloads of books to help re-stock the flood-ruined Marion Public Library. Between 9,000 and 10,000 books were included in the shipmen as well as a check for $360 to help purchase volumes of reference work.

All milk, cream, and milk products sold in Marion city must be Grade A pasteurized, according to an ordinance passed by the city council this week.

Marion High School basketball teams, with 33 players out for practice, are rapidly rounding into shape according to coaches Floyd Yaussi and E.M. Ireland.

First team starting lineup will probably be Dwight Fruechting, center; Jerry Brose and Eugene Christensen, forwards; Ted Heath and Bill McKibbin at guard.

Second five so far lines up as Harold Shields, Duane Fruechting Gordon Wingerd, LeRoy Roberts, and James Miesse.

Work is progressing on the Wheeler bridge south and east of Marion. Steel and other materials are being unloaded at Oursler and trucked to the job. Those in the construction area report they were about jarred loose from their moorings this week when the last abutment was blasted out.

The Bicycle Safety Club collected a truckload of scrap metal last week to be sold to benefit the club treasury. The truck in which the scrap was collected was donated by Cook Motor Company and was also turned in as part of the scrap.
