70-year reunion set for class of 1943

The Marion High School class of 1943 will celebrate its 70th anniversary of graduation on Old Settlers’ Day, Sept. 28.

Class members wishing to ride in the parade will meet at 10 a.m. at the home of Jean Pierce, 303 Locust St. Those not wishing to ride will meet at 11 a.m. in Central Park.

After the parade, the group will gather in the park for lunch together. At 2 p.m., they will join other classes at the gazebo for introductions. Pierce is inviting classmates to her home afterward if they wish to rest and visit longer.

Classes planning reunions are reminded to send information of their plans to the Marion County Record, Box 278, Marion, KS 66861-0278.

Previously reported reunions

Class of 1948

The class of 1948 plans for this, its 65-year reunion, to be its final reunion. The class will meet at 6 p.m. Sept. 27 at Hilltop Manor, 1501 Lawrence St., for pizza. Coffee, juice, and rolls will be available at 9 a.m. Sept. 28 at Marion Senior Center, then class members will ride in the parade.

Lunch will be in Central Park, and the class will be recognized at 2:30 p.m. in the park. A catered meal will be served at 6:30 p.m. at the senior center. Reservations are $16 per person and can be mailed to Loyette Swanson, 1509 W. Maplewood St., Springfield, MO 65807.
