Ground was broken this week for a modern, red, fireproof tile 100-by-110-foot building on E. Grand St. to house McDaris Motors and Machinery Co. Inc., local distributors for Oldsmobile and Massey-Harris. It is hoped the building will be ready for occupancy by the middle of August.

The theme “Carousel” was carried out in elaborate arrangements for the annual junior-senior banquet Tuesday evening in the high school gymnasium. The Al Jennings orchestra of McPherson furnished dance music after the banquet.
Weddings reported in this week’s issue include those of Margaret Ann Richardson and Delphas E. Mehlinger, May 9; Norma Jean Sandwell and Paul L. Hansen, May 9; Aleda Laurine Clark and Clinton Kaiser, May 1; and Madeline Jane Mastek and John H. Anderson, May 3.
Lony Navrat, 15, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Navrat, Pilsen, made the catch of the season Tuesday evening when he reeled in a 13-pound carp from a creek in the pasture of Mr. and Mrs. Enos Kapaun.
