Four students of the flight school at Marion Airport soloed this week. They were Fiennes Jantz, Richard Noone, Mart Sanders, and Dean Schroeder.
Thirty-eight Marion boys and girls will take part Thursday night in graduation exercises from junior high school.
The program in the high school auditorium will feature special numbers by June Bailey, Dan Brodhead, Mary Margaret Hannaford, Patricia Henry, Dale Hobein, Claire Hyde, John Newcomer, Alice Ward, Peggy Weibert, and Sarabel Wolf.
This weekend will be big days in the lives of baseball players up to 17 years old. Tryouts will be conducted Saturday and Sunday to choose players to up the Marion American Legion junior baseball team.
O.C. McCandless has been named manager with Arnold Schwemmer as coach and E.F. Nelson as assistant coach.
About 40 students of the Lincolnville grade school and their teachers are in Marion today for their last-day-of-school picnic.
A special matinee at the Kaw Theatre has been arranged as a part of the entertainment.
