Kiwanis Club took on a new job this past week when it decided to purchase a new horse for Lindsey King, a 79-year-old colored man who has been operating a trash-hauling service in Marion for many years.

King always is delighted to have children of Marion ride with him, no matter how busy he may be. They will continue to look forward to the rounds with this perennial friend.

At least seven modern two- and three-bedroom homes on S. Cedar St. will be started by early June, with completion scheduled within 60 days. They are being built under the direction of Menzo Hainline and sponsored by Riddle Quarries.

Susan Lentz, small daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Lentz, suffered a slight concussion when she fell at her home last Thursday evening. She received treatment at the Marion hospital overnight Thursday and Friday.

Seven Marion High School students received four “A” grades each during the first six weeks of the second semester. They were Diana Herbert and Myron Jantz, freshmen; Jessie Jewett, sophomore; and James Fruechting, Joyce Keazer, Max Merrill, and Verona Vinduska, seniors.
