7th-grade scholars 2nd in league
The Marion Middle School seventh-grade scholars bowl team posted a 6-3 record to place second in the Heart of America League meet April 2 at Bennington.
The Wildcats defeated Trinity Catholic of Hutchinson, 60-30, Remington, 80-20, Berean Academy, 50-40, Sedgwick, 80-30, Canton-Galva, 30-10, and Ell-Saline, 60-30. They lost to Inman, 60-50, Bennington, 50-40, and Moundridge, 70-30.
Colin Williams led the team in scoring with 180 points, followed by Logan Waner, 130, Devin Hamm, 90, Jack Schneider, 40, Zach Stuchlik, 30, and Austin Neufeld, 10.
The eighth-grade team also posted a 6-3 record to end in a four-way tie for second place, but ended in fifth place after tiebreakers.
Marion defeated Berean Academy, 80-40, Inman, 70-60, Sedgwick, 100-15, Bennington, 80-20, Canton-Galva, 65-55, and Moundridge, 60-55. Losses came against Trinity Catholic, 90-30, Remington, 80-30, and Ell-Saline, 65-55.
Nathan Baldwin led the team in scoring with 275 points, followed by Cade Harms, 120, Mason Pedersen, 80, Bryce Shults, 70, and Shelby Felvus, 20.
