‘Otts’ Waltner

A memorial service for Orville Dwight “Otts” Waltner, 97, Moundridge, who passed away Thursday, Aug. 7, 2025 at Pine Village in Moundridge was 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2025, at Eden Mennonite Church, Moundridge. The service was live-streamed on Zoom.

Visitation was 3 to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 11, at Moundridge Funeral Home. Family members were present 6 to 8 p.m. Private family burial was at Eden Church Cemetery.

Otts was born Aug. 4, 1928, in rural Moundridge to Otto J. and Marie (Schrag) Waltner.

He attended Pleasant Ridge Grade School and graduated from Moundridge High School with the class of 1946.

He served two years of 1-W service in Topeka from 1952 to 1954.

He was a member of the Eden Mennonite Church, where he sang in the Mennonite Men’s Chorus.

Otts was united in marriage to Mary Ann Neufeld on March 31, 1957, in Moundridge. They shared 68 years of marriage together.

He was a lifelong truck driver, working for W.L. Kaufman, Hesston Corp., Guerdon Industries, and Dalke Propane and 24 years for Mid-Kansas Co-op of Moundridge, driving feed trucks and as a fertilizer applicator.

He retired in 1991. Upon retirement, he began woodworking and wood crafting. He also enjoyed fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Waltner, of Moundridge; sons Alan Waltner (and wife Tina) of Moundridge and Scott Waltner (and wife Kendra) of Moundridge; daughters Julia Waltner of Kettle Falls, Washington, and Sandra Koontz (and husband Stephen) of Benton; brother Glenn Waltner (and wife Marilyn) of Denver; sisters Luene Flickinger (and husband LaVerne) of Moundridge and Marianne Seacat of Wichita; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren;

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Robert Waltner, sisters Delene Goering and Marjean Stucky, grandson Anthony Bowers Jr. and great-grandson Gad Waltner.
