to lead county EMS

An Abilene paramedic will be Marion County’s new emergency medical services director.
Curt Hasart will begin duties in mid-November.
Hasart has worked in EMS for 27 years, 25 of those as a paramedic. He also has worked as a firefighter.
His brother is an EMS director and firefighter, and his uncles were firefighters and emergency medical technicians.
“Being around it all the time, that’s the path I took,” Hasart said.
A native of Miller, South Dakota, he moved to Kansas in 2011. In Kansas, he has worked in Wellington and in Dickinson County.
The opportunity to become a department director is what made Marion County appealing.
“Being a director has been on my list for years,” he said.
He will need to resign other positions he holds. He’s safety coordinator for Heartland Motorsports Park in Topeka and works for the National Hot Rod Association.
His initial plans for the county EMS department are to make sure it has staffing and vehicles available to provide services.
“I look forward to being here and taking care of people,” Hasart said.
