These accident reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:
SHERIFF
190th Rd. west of Limestone Rd.
Diabetic driver Terry L. Hamm, 64, Hillsboro, passed out while driving at 12:21 p.m. June 30 and totaled his westbound 2004 Chrysler Sebring when it ran off the road to the right and traveled nearly a third of a mile in a ditch before crossing a creek and striking its west bank, according to deputy Landis Goodman’s report, released Friday.
Hamm was taken to Hillsboro Community Hospital by Hillsboro ambulance after Hillsboro firefighters helped him out of the creek.
190th Rd. east of Quail Creek Rd.
Swerving to avoid a deer at 10 p.m. May 30, Jason D. May, 50, Marion, drove his 2014 Ford F-350 off the road and into the right ditch, causing damage listed as unknown to the truck’s undercarriage.
The accident was not reported until a little more than an hour later, according to deputy Austin Spencer’s report, released Friday.
190th Rd. east of Mustang Rd.
Jesse A. Boucher, 36, Hillsboro, was ticketed for driving with an expired license after he hydroplaned a 2014 Jeep Patriot on wet pavement at 11:30 a.m. June 3, and it slammed into a utility pole.
The Jeep, owned by Viktoria A. Boucher of the same address, sustained disabling damage to its front third and was towed.
Charlee A. Boucher of the same address was listed as a passenger in a front-facing child seat restraint system. Her age was redacted by the sheriff’s department without legally required explanation from the open public record of the accident.
Deputy Bruce Burke’s report blamed the wreck on inattentive driving as well as wet pavement.
K-150 near Yarrow Rd.
Sheriff Jeff Soyez personally investigated after a deer hit the front and rear passenger door of an eastbound 2023 Ford Expedition owned and driven by Burton L. Harshman, rural Elmdale.
Soyez’s report states that the wreck occurred at 7:35 p.m. June 2, that the sheriff’s office was notified four minutes later, and that Soyez arrived one minute after that.
The car remained drivable with damage along its passenger side.
Passengers were listed as Audra Harshman, 34, and Jarrett and Dalton Boone, all of the same address. Ages of the Boones were redacted by the sheriff’s department without legally required explanation from the open public record of the accident.
290th Rd. west of Sunflower Rd.
Ira E. Walker III, 77, rural Lincolnville, hydroplaned his 2011 Dodge Ram 3500 pulling a compact utility tractor on a trailer into a ditch at 3:58 p.m. June 3.
His pickup remained drivable with scattered damage along its passenger side and to its undercarriage.
