REPORTED

These accident reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:

SHERIFF

140th Rd. at Upland Rd.

Matthew A. Williams, 41, Marion, hit a deer at 5:44 a.m. June 8 with his 2024 Toyota Corolla.

The car sustained damage characterized as minor to its right front, according to one of six accident reports released Friday by the sheriff’s department.

US-50/77 roundabout

A Heyl Truck Lines semi entering the Florence roundabout collided at 8:25 a.m. June 8 with a 2012 Ford Escape already in the roundabout.

The semi, a 2026 Freightliner Sprinter driven by Arthur Harding, 59, of Bradenton, Florida, sustained damage characterized as minor to its left front.

The sport-utility vehicle, owned by Cale P. Carson and driven by Taylor A. Carson, 20, of the same Maize address, remained drivable with more extensive damage to its right rear.

Both vehicles were northbound at the time, according to deputy Bruce Burke’s report.

The report blamed the wreck on Harding’s failure the yield and inattentive driving, but no tickets were listed as being issued.

US-56/77 north of 340th Rd.

Joshua A. Martinez, 45, Sterling, hit a deer at 7:49 a.m. June 10 with a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox owned by his employer, St. Francis Community Services of Salina.

The SUV remained drivable with damage to its right front and hood.

K-15 at 8th St. in Durham

Four people were taken by ambulance to Salina Regional Health Center after Antoinette I. Andrews, 38, Dumas, Arkansas, totaled her 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe at 6:24 a.m. June 11 when a right rear tire deflated, and the SUV veered off the road to the left and overturned.

Passengers were listed as Terry Davis, 53, and Janice L. Andrews, Ya’Narii I. Williams, and Ya’Nyila I. Williams, all of the same Arkansas address. Without providing a required rationale for doing so, the sheriff’s department redacted the ages of the girls from the open, public record of the wreck.

Deputy Bruce Burke’s report states that none of the five were injured, but monitored transmissions indicate that four of the five, not identified by age or gender, were taken to Salina Regional Medical Center — two each by Tampa ambulance and Hillsboro ambulance.

Durham firefighters also responded. Marion ambulance started to respond, but the call was canceled by a Tampa ambulance attendant who arrived before other responders.

Burke’s report blamed the crash not on mechanical failure but on inattentive driving and driving too fast, but no tickets were listed as being issued.

US-56 west of Bison Rd.

Sara E. Kuhlman, 42, Roxbury, hit a deer at 9:35 p.m. June 11 with her 2021 Dodge Charger.

The car sustained disabling damage to its front and undercarriage and was towed.

K-15 north of 120th Rd.

Darcy J. Buller, 64, rural Goessel, hit a deer at 9:40 a.m. Thursday with a 2025 Subaru Outback owned by PV Holdings of Kansas City, Missouri.

The SUV remained drivable with damage to its front, hood, and undercarriage.

HILLSBORO

Alley behind American Legion post

A 2021 Freightliner M2 semi-trailer truck making deliveries for City Beverage of Hutchinson snagged and pulled down a low-hanging Vyve Broadband cable at 8:26 a.m. June 11.

Driver Noah R. McIntyre, 23, Hutchinson, told police he had not seen the cable.

Sonic Drive-In parking lot

Jockeying his 2000 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 to get it aligned squarely in a parking stall, Dominic J. Bartel, 19, rural Hillsboro, hit the left rear of a 2014 Buick Encore parked in a neighboring stall.

Bartel’s pickup sustained damage to the right front of its bed. The Buick, owned and parked by Melissa A. Arndt, 47, rural Lehigh, sustained damage to its left rear corner.

Andrew G. Bartel of Dominic’s address was a passenger in the pickup.
