REPORTED

These accident reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:

SHERIFF

Remington Rd. south of 230th Rd.

As previously reported, Robert B. Gustafson, 64, Wichita, died after his 2017 Ford F-150 blew a right front tire sometime before 9:19 a.m. Dec. 3, veered off the road, and rolled onto its top in a small creek.

Deputy Bruce Burke’s report, one of eight released Friday by the sheriff’s department, indicated Gustafson had been drinking, but a blood alcohol test revealed content of just 0.001 compared with a legal limit of 0.08.

The report blames the wreck on tire problems and inattentive driving.

The pickup, owned by Anna M. Gustafson of the same address, was listed as destroyed.

Clover Rd. north of 180th Rd.

Chelsea P. Weber, 37, Cedar Point, hit a deer at 6:15 p.m. Dec. 10 with her 2017 Ford Expedition.

Paul E.L. Weber, 13, of the same address was a passenger.

The sport-utility vehicle remained drivable with damage to its front and right.

Timber Rd. south of 175th Rd.

Swerving to avoid an animal in the road at 11:12 a.m. Dec. 12, Jessi E. Hayes, 18, Marion, lost control of a 1998 Lincoln Town Car.

The car ran off the road to the right, striking a road sign, a culvert, and a barbed-wire fence owned by Timothy S. Summerville, Marion.

Deputy Landis Goodman’s report states that Hayes reported injury but was not taken to a hospital by ambulance.

The report blames the wreck on overcorrection.

Her car, owned by Jeremy R. Bowen of Cedar Point, sustained disabling damage to its right front and undercarriage and was towed.

Remington Rd. north of 250th Rd.

Distracted by adjusting a radio, allegedly unlicensed driver Tabitha A.M. Howe, 38, Ramona, drove her 2017 Ford F-150 into the right ditch at 3:33 a.m. Dec. 16.

She then overcorrected and drove across the road, into the left ditch, where her pickup hit a tree and flipped onto its roof.

Howe reported possible injury but was not taken to a hospital by ambulance.

Deputy Peyton Heidebrecht’s report states that she possessed only a California identification card, not a driver’s license. He ticketed her for being an unlicensed driver.

Her pickup sustained disabling damage to its front and roof and was towed.

30th Rd. east of Limestone Rd.

Nolan R. Schmitz, 45, El Dorado, hit a deer at 7:36 a.m. Dec. 16 with his 2022 Ram 2500.

The pickup, in which Ryan E. Cloud, 36, Benton, was a passenger, remained drivable with damage to its front and undercarriage.

US-77 at 5th St., Florence

Andrew R. Cogdill, 56, rural Florence, failed to yield while turning onto US-77 at 9:11 a.m. Dec. 16 and drove a westbound 1993 Ford F-150 owned by the City of Florence into a southbound 2022 Volkswagen Taos on US-77.

The pickup remained drivable with damage to its right front, but the Volkswagen sustained disabling damage to its front, left, hood, and undercarriage and was towed.

The driver of the Volkswagen was identified as Betsy A. Jaraczewski, 27, Northlake, Texas. Margaret M. Jaraczewski, 20, of the same address was a passenger. The car was listed as owned by Faye J. Jaraczewski, also of the same address.

Deputy Bruce Burke’s report blames the wreck on Cogdill’s inattentive driving and failure to yield, but no tickets were listed as being issued.

K-15 south of 160th Rd.

Logan J. Wonser, 22, Goessel, hit a deer at 6:43 p.m. Dec. 16 with her 2010 Dodge Charger.

Her car remained drivable with damage to its left front.

US-77 north of 150th Rd.

Joshua J. Erby, 25, Buffalo, New York, hit a deer at 6:05 p.m. Dec. 8 and continued driving a 2024 Ford Mustang for more than a quarter of a mile before crossing the highway, entering the opposite ditch, and continuing to drive in the ditch for about 100 feet.

The Mustang, owned by EAN Holdings of St. Louis, sustained disabling damage to its front half and undercarriage and was towed.

Passengers in the Mustang were identified as Janaysha L.L. Tolefree, 26, and 6-year-old Sa’riya Pete of the same Wichita address.
