REPORTED

These accident reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:

SHERIFF

Indigo Rd. south of 170th Rd.

Patrick A. Flaming, 48, rural Hillsboro, hit a deer at 7:18 p.m. Christmas Eve with his 2018 Ford Fusion, according to one of four accident reports released Dec. 31 by the sheriff’s department.

The car sustained disabling damage to its front third and was towed.

Amy L. Flaming, 45, and Emily J. Flaming, 21, of the same address were passengers.

Alamo Rd. north of 210th Rd.

A 1999 Toyota 4Runner owned by Khaos Inc. of Topeka was engulfed in flames after it was driven into a ditch, struck a utility pole, and rolled over at 5:13 p.m. Dec. 26.

The SUV, which was not occupied when deputies and firefighters arrived, was listed as destroyed.

Deputy Douglas Calam identified the driver as Kawliga E. Zimmerman, 39, Leavenworth.

Calam’s report blamed the accident on inattentive driving by Zimmerman and indicated that Zimmerman was driving on a revoked license. However, no tickets were listed as being issued.

K-150 east of Xavier Rd.

Loss of a tire on a 2000 Ford Explorer owned and driven by Danny R. Carey, 67, Marion, caused the sport-utility vehicle to veer across the highway at 9:20 p.m. Dec. 26, into the opposite ditch, and overturn.

Carey was listed as suffering disabling injury. An accident report does not indicate that he was taken to a hospital, but monitored broadcasts appear to indicate he was taken by Marion ambulance to Wesley Medical Center, Wichita.

His SUV was listed as destroyed.

US-56/77 south of 350th Rd.

Kade W. Moon, 17, Hillsboro, fell asleep at 10:24 a.m. Dec. 27 and drove a 2003 Chrysler Town and Country over the center line and into the opposite ditch, where it rolled over.

The car, owned by Jamie W. Moon of the same Hillsboro address, was listed as destroyed.

The driver complained of injury and was examined by ambulance attendants but declined to be taken to a hospital.

HILLSBORO

Main St. at Grand Ave.

Distracted by an animal riding in her vehicle, Jeanette A. Schaefer, 66, Hillsboro, drove her 2005 Jeep Liberty into the rear of a southbound 2019 Dodge Journey that had stopped at 5:45 p.m. Dec. 31 to turn east.

Both vehicles sustained damage characterized as minor. Dodge driver Demetrius A. Cox, 41, Hillsboro, complained of possible injury but was not taken to a hospital.

No tickets were listed as being issued.

MARION

2nd St. south of North St.

Robert Register, 26, Peabody, was ticketed for being an unlicensed driver after he lost control of a 2021 mini-bike at 12:05 p.m. Friday on what he said was loose gravel.

He was thrown onto the road, hit his head, and complained of a possible head injury and scrapes on his arms and hands. He was taken to a hospital by a family member. The mini-bike, owned by Michael Register of Marion, was not damaged.

Although an accident report states that Register was driving north of 2nd St. south of North St., the only gravel road in the area is North St., east of 2nd St.

Police were not notified of the wreck until more than an hour afterward, according to the report
