These accident reports were released this past week by law enforcement agencies:

SHERIFF

US-77 south of 50th Rd.

Lilliana A.M. McKenna, 18, Larned, hit a deer at 10:22 p.m. March 13 with her 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe, according to one of four accident reports released Monday by the sheriff’s office.

McKenna’s sport-utility vehicle remained drivable with damage to its right front. Maklyah N. McCall, 19, Andover, was a passenger.

Sunflower Rd. north of 150th Rd.

Dawn M. Lee, 63, Marion, hit a deer at 6:45 a.m. March 17 with her 2012 Toyota Camry.

Her car sustained disabling damage to its front third and was towed.

K-15 south of 270th Rd.

Mary E. Nudson, 78, Manhattan, hit a deer at 7:21 a.m. March 18 with her 2023 Hyundai Kona.

The SUV, which ran off the road to the right, sustained disabling damage to its front, hood, and undercarriage and was towed.

US-56 west of Chisholm Trail Rd.

Rene L. Matuse, 44, Hesston, hit a turkey at 9:33 a.m. March 19 with a 2020 Buick Encore.

The SUV, owned by Kansas Department of Health and Environment, remained drivable with damage to a passenger door.

HILLSBORO

600 block of N. Adams St.

While trying at 10:06 a.m. March 16 to empty a container surrounded on three sides by a sheet metal fence, city sanitation driver Jacob G. Duerksen, 35, Newton, snagged part of the fence with his city trash truck.

The fence was pulled loose from its concrete base. The trash truck was not damaged.

Main St. south of 1st St.

Reportedly distracted by Jost Funeral Home’s sign about upcoming funerals, Colleen S. Weinbrenner, 64, Hillsboro, drove her 2014 Toyota Corolla into an unoccupied 2022 Ford F-250 legally parked in a diagonal space at 10:44 a.m. March 16.

Both vehicles remained drivable.

The Toyota, owned by Douglas Weinbrenner of the same address, sustained damage to its front, hood, and passenger side.

The pickup, owned by Stuart L. Isaac, rural Hillsboro, sustained damage to its rear.

Officer David Funk’s report blamed the wreck on distraction and inattentive driving. No tickets were listed as being issued.

MARION

Melvin St. east of Cedar St.

Noah J. Albin, Marion, told police at 4:15 p.m. Saturday that his unoccupied and legally parked 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 was struck by a hit-and-run vehicle at an unspecified date and time.

The pickup remained drivable with damage along the back half of its driver’s side.
