190th Rd. east of Goldenrod Rd.

Rebecka Alane Simhiser, 45, 312 K-168, Lehigh, lost control on an icy curve and slid into a road sign and hit an embankment with her 2003 Dodge van at 10:35 a.m. Dec. 8. No injuries were reported, but the van had to be towed.

Old Mill Rd. south of 40th Rd.

Rebecca L. Freeman, 52, 12521 N.W. 160th, Newton, lost control on an icy road and rolled a 1999 Ford sedan registered to Gary L. Hubman, same address, into the ditch at 9:20 p.m. Dec. 8. Freeman wasn’t injured, but passengers Rebecca M. McCullough, 17, same address, and Anjelica M. Winsor, 17, 4675 N.W. 160th, Burns, suffered possible injuries and were taken by ambulance to Newton Medical Center. The vehicle had to be towed.

Timber Rd. south of 60th Rd.

Nicole Marie Sauder, 28, 600 E. Marion St., Goessel, lost control on an icy patch of road and hit a culvert with her 2007 Saturn sport utility vehicle. No injuries were reported, but the vehicle had to be towed.

Old Mill Rd. south of 60th Rd.

Justin Ryan Weerts, 31, 611 N. Vine St., Peabody, went into a ditch and struck an embankment and tree with his 2008 Ford pickup after trying to avoid hitting several deer in the road at 6:50 p.m. Dec. 10. No injuries were reported, but the pickup had to be towed.

Meridian Rd. north of 90th Rd.

Christopher Sean Horst, 23, 115 Olivette St., McPherson, lost control and went into the ditch and struck a tree with a 2002 Nissan sedan registered to Troy Nathan Jantz, 320 N. Weaver St., Hesston, after trying to avoid a raccoon in the road at 10:10 p.m. Dec. 10. No injuries were reported, but the car had to be towed.

280th Rd. east of Alfalfa Rd.

Dustin James Bina, 30, 2756 280th Rd., Lincolnville, struck and killed a coyote, lost control and went off the road, and rolled a 2008 Dodge pickup registered to Jeanette M. Bina, 2725 280th Rd., Lincolnville, onto its top at 10:15 p.m. Dec. 10. No injuries were reported, and the owner removed the pickup.

Ruth Y. Funk, 56, 514 S. Washington St., Hillsboro, and Herbert Guhr, 87, 704 S. Ash St., Hillsboro, struck each other Sunday at 12:20 p.m. in the Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church parking lot when they backed up at the same time. Funk was driving a 2003 Pontiac minivan registered to Kurt Lynn Funk, same address, and Guhr was in his 1991 Buick sedan. No injuries were reported.

Ash and First Sts.

Troy W. Seaman, 25, 412 West B St., Hillsboro, lost control of his 1996 Ford pickup Dec. 8 at 2:15 p.m., ran over the curb, and struck a road sign while driving north on Ash St. The sign then went airborne, broke the glass of a storefront window, and caused damage to the window frame. Seaman reported that his boots caused him to over accelerate which in turn caused his truck to enter into a slide on the ice-covered street. His pickup had very little damage. No injuries were reported.
