According to accident reports released Monday:

SHERIFF

US-56 north of K-150

Deputies said Cody Cowan, 20, of Wichita fell asleep at the wheel of a 2002 Oldsmobile Alero at 1 a.m. June 26, veered off the road, and hit an iron post owned by Nick Kraus.

The Olds, owned by Leona Bourell of the same Wichita address, had to be towed.

US-56 north of K-150

Dylan Beekman, 22, of Junction City hit a deer with his 2010 Chevy Cobalt at 5:04 a.m. July 2. The Chevy had to be towed.

Melvin and Cedar Sts., Marion

A 2007 Dodge Caravan driven by Amber Holub, 17, of rural Tampa sideswiped a Marion police car driven by officer Brandon Mitchell, 33, as Holub pulled away from a curb at 4:50 p.m. July 2, sheriff’s deputies reported.

Deputies said she did not see the squad car. No citations were issued.

The van is owned by Kenneth Holub of the same address.

Because of confusion over the listing of Driver 1 on Line 2 and Driver 2 on Line 1 of an official accident report, the drivers and vehicles were reversed in printed editions of the newspaper.

US-56 south of 330th Rd.

A driver and a passenger complained of injuries and both drivers were charged after what deputies said was a two-vehicle hit-and-run accident at 5:20 p.m. July 3.

Deputies said Andrew Wiens, 34, of Herington slowed his 1999 GMC Sierra, causing a 2012 Chevy Malibu driven by David Bryan, 22, of Junction City to rear-end the pickup.

Wiens, who was reported to have fled, was charged with failure to stop at an injury accident and failure to render aid or provide information or proof of insurance. Bryan was charged with failing to wear a seat belt.

Both Bryan and passenger Jay Cartavius, 20, of a different Junction City address complained of injuries.

US-56 north of 240th Rd.

Tyrisha Rooks, 19, of Fort Riley drifted onto US-56’s shoulder at 7:30 p.m. July 3, losing control of her 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup and sending it into a ditch.

No injuries were reported, and the pickup was able to be driven away.

290th Rd. west of Sunflower Rd.

Janice Bovee, 61, of Galva was reported injured when she lost control of her 2004 Chevy Impala on gravel at 2 p.m. July 4 and the car struck an embankment and ended up in a field.

Deputies indicated they checked whether alcohol was involved but results were listed as pending, and no charges were reported filed.

US-50 west of Old Mill Rd.

Christopher Ramsey, 38, of North Bend, Washington, hit a deer with his 2009 Honda motorcycle at 9:30 p.m. July 4 and ended up in the ditch.

Both he and passenger Donna Ramsey, 32, of the same address complained of possible injuries, deputies said. Neither was wearing a helmet. Their motorcycle had to be towed.

Indigo Rd. south of 170th Rd.

Christine Smith, 58, of Hillsboro hit a deer with her 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue at 5:18 a.m. July 5.

US-56 south of 250th Rd.

Daniel Hoskins, 23, of Valley Center hit a deer with his 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt at 12:45 a.m. July 6.

Neither he nor passenger Taylr Twiss, 22, of Wichita, was reported injured, but his car had to be towed.

HILLSBORO

D and Adams Sts.

A 1993 Ford Taurus driven by Devorah Hilliard, 27, of Peabody read-ended a 2013 Ford F-15 pickup driven by Johnny Ray Gilkey, 33, of Hillsboro while Gilkey was stopped to make a left turn, police said.

Hilliard, who told police she fell asleep, was accused of inattentive driving and having no proof of insurance.
