Accidents reported

According to accident reports released Friday:

SHERIFF

K-15 south of 290th Rd.

Jessica Vannocker, 27, of Durham hit a fox with her 2012 Ford Fusion at 9:30 p.m. July 12. Ava Case, 8, of Durham was a passenger. No injuries were reported. Investigator Wilma Mueller reported that the fox ran away.

US-50 east of Pawnee Rd.

Raquel Berrios-Lithgow, 27, of Wichita complained of injuries after she lost control of her 2009 Pontiac Vibe at 2 p.m. July 17 while allegedly attempting to pass a semi on a curve without seeing a second semi oncoming.

Deputy Travis Wilson reported that she drove onto the opposite shoulder, lost control, veered under the trailer tires of the semi she had been attempting to pass, then veered across the oncoming lane, almost hitting the second semi before ending up in the opposite ditch.

The driver and owner of the semi she allegedly was attempting to pass was identified as Katherine Dollard, 60, of Lawrence.

No citations were listed in Wilson’s report.

Kanza Rd. at 340th Rd.

Tall corn obscuring drivers’ views at an uncontrolled intersection was blamed for a pickup-van accident at 7:09 a.m. July 19.

Rodney McDermott, 34, of Ramona was approaching from the north in a 2007 GMC Canyon pickup, and Alan Bentz, 60, of Tampa was approaching from the west in a 2011 Ford CW3 van owned by Renzenberger Inc. of Lenexa.

The van struck the side of the pickup, deputy Derrick Fetrow reported. Both vehicles had to be towed. Bentz complained of injuries.

US-77 at K-150

Shayla Rahe, 21, of Marion veered off the highway and struck a sign post while trying to avoid an unidentified vehicle that ran a westbound stop sign on K-150 at 12:20 p.m. July 19.

Rahe was southbound on US-77 in a 2008 Pontiac Grand Am owned by Katherine Rahe of the same address. The Pontiac, which ended up in a ditch northwest of the intersection, suffered damage to its rear.

Indigo Rd. south of 80th Rd.

Mary Beth Gaines, 67, of Peabody hit two deer with a 2003 Chrysler Town and Country at 9 p.m. July 24.

Neither she nor her passenger, registered owner J.D. Gaines, 69, of the same address, was reported injured.

US-50 east of Turkey Creek Rd.

Matthew Hegwer, 40, of Carthage, Missouri, hit a deer with his 2011 Ford F150 pickup at 9:15 p.m. July 24.

He and two children, Haden, 14, and Ryan, 10, of the same address were reported uninjuried.

Airbags on the pickup deployed, and it had to be towed.
